Month 1 - February 2017:
Raising Funds for Alzheimer's Society
Alzheimer's Society is the leading UK care and research charity for people with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, their families and carers.

To witness the deterioration of a loved one is hard, and impacts on not just the individual suffering, but also the surrounding family.  It can be a long, drawn-out process of grieving for the person who is lost, even though physically they are still with you.

Anything that can be done to help prevent or slow dementia is surely worthy of support.

ASSERT (Angelman Syndrome Support Education & Research Trust)
Assert provides valuable support for families and carers of people with Angelman Syndrome.  They also work hard to educate and raise awareness of this rare neurological condition.

Angelman Syndrome is a chromosome disorder causing severe learning difficulties, and leaving those diagnosed needing lifelong care and support. Most children with Angelman Syndrome will be diagnosed between the ages of 3 and 7 years old, so any support that can be provided to their families can make a world of difference to their lives.

Month 3 - April 2017:
Devon Air Ambulance Trust
The Devon Air Ambulance Trust is a charity that provides urgent medical assistance to people in Devon. Their two helicopters allow them to reach emergency scenes - often inaccessible by road - within minutes.

In an emergency - when seconds count - they can be anywhere in the county within minutes. From the moors to the shores. The patients they save are ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances. Mothers. Husbands. Children. Nobody chooses to have a medical emergency, and funding is crucial to ensure this service can continue to save hundreds of lives every year.

Macmillan Cancer Support
Macmillan's tagline of 'no-one should face cancer alone' is so true, and their support to patients and their families is invaluable.  I'm sure we all know at least one person, if not many, who have been affected by cancer.  I, personally, have known many.

Macmillan know how a cancer diagnosis can affect everything. So they provide support and help patients to take back some control in their life. From help with money worries and advice about work, to someone who’ll listen if they just want to talk, Macmillan are always there to support and care.

Parkinson's UK
Every hour, someone in the UK is told they have Parkinson's. It affects one person in every 500.  That's about 127,000 people in the UK - a frightening number.  There is currently no cure, and so funding research is key in fighting this devastating neurological condition. Parkinson's UK fund research into finding better treatments and ways to improve the quality of life for people with Parkinson's as well as finding a cure.  Parkinson's UK also offer friendship, support, expert information and advice.
